Carly-formerly known as Lavender
As we come to a close of 2009, it's a good time to reflect on this very important year. This year, HALO Animal Rescue adopted more dogs and cats than ANY OTHER YEAR in our history, 2,548 and counting, as of today! Homeless animals like Carly, an adorable Cocker Spaniel, who was cruelly used by her previous owner as nothing more than a breeding machine. Carly came to us with large mammary tumors, a horrible ear infection and was terrified. She was completely unsocialized because she never received the love and care she deserved. Thanks to HALO and wonderful supporters like you, Carly got the medical help she needed and now lives in a loving new home. Her new mom has been working with her and teaching her that there is such a thing as "unconditional love." Carly came back to visit us just yesterday and we all cheered (and got a little choked up, as well) when she went right up to a young girl she had never met for some love and pats on the head. We are so proud of how far little Carly has come. While we have much to celebrate at HALO, the statistics are staggering and we need your help:
- Nearly every animal that we take in comes from other Valley animal shelters where they would be euthanized simply because the shelter did not have the resources and the space to keep and care for them
- More than 90% of the homeless pets that come to HALO Animal Rescue need to be spayed or neutered
- More than 80% of them also need some sort of other medical treatment, whether it is treatment for upper respiratory infection, surgeries to repair broken bones, or tender loving care and lots of fluids to bring a starving animal back from the brink of death
- On average, we spend $345 PER ANIMAL while they are in our care, yet our adoption fees are much, much lower than that
Friends, we need your help to continue the life-saving work we do. Simply put, YOUR DONATIONS SAVE LIVES. Please, make a generous year-end donation to HALO Animal Rescue today. Your gift is tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Thank you, from little Carly and all of her friends at HALO Animal Rescue. Happy New Year.
