Cyvex Earns GMP Certification

Cyvex Nutrition is proud to announce that it has received its Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) certification from the Natural Products Association (NPA).

"In this day and age, where many educated consumers are skeptical about product quality, Cyvex Nutrition is well-positioned to supply our manufacturer partners with the confidence of superior quality, reliable and effective raw materials for their products,” says Charlene Lee, executive vice president and general manager of Cyvex Nutrition. “Our GMP certification is proof that substantiates our new slogan: ‘Where innovation and quality are our first ingredients.’”

To earn certification, the staff first conducted an internal assessment of its compliance to the NPA’s GMP standards. The results were then used to identify areas of non-compliance and develop action plans. Cyvex Nutrition worked closely with an independent third-party auditor to verify compliance.

"Cyvex Nutrition continues to set its sights on leading the industry into a healthy and prosperous future,” Lee adds. “We commend the NPA for implementing GMPs.”

The Benefits of Buckwheat

Buckwheat may not be a true grain, but it surpasses rice, wheat and corn on almost every measure of healthfulness! A rhubarb-related seed, buckwheat is the best known source of high-quality, easily digestible protein in the plant kingdom.

Cyvex Nutrition’s product, Buckwheat Extract 20 Percent Protein, consists mainly of aleurone protein. This protein is extracted from the seed’s outer layer, which is most concentrated in phytonutrients.

Buckwheat protein contains all essential amino acids that the body cannot produce and is high in the essential amino acids lysine and arginine. (Major cereal crops are deficient in both.) This profile gives buckwheat the power to boost the protein value of beans and cereal grains eaten the same day.

In addition to being a valuable protein source, buckwheat has more iron than cereal grains, and it’s been shown to strengthen capillary walls and reduce hemorrhaging in people with high blood pressure. It’s also useful for reducing plasma cholesterol and treating type II diabetes.

Cyvex To Distribute CocoaNol™ Polyphenols

United Kingdom-based CPC Ingredients has named Cyvex Nutrition as its exclusive North American distributor of CocoaNol™ Cocoa Polyphenols.

CocoaNol™ is a proprietary extract from selected varieties of GMO-free, fermented cocoa beans. CocoaNol™ is standardized to a minimum of 20 percent total polyphenols, of which at least 25 percent are monomers, dimers and trimers. Research on cocoa polyphenols supports their value as an ingredient in cardiovascular supplements.

Albert Zumbe, Ph.D., MSc, BSc, founder and owner of CPC Ingredients, is a renowned food scientist with extensive experience in cocoa and chocolate technology and holder of several patents. “We selected Cyvex Nutrition as our North American partner for its 23 years of history in developing and sustaining innovative branded nutraceutical ingredients used in dietary supplements, such as Biovin®, BioVinca®, AvoVida® and PomActiv™,” Zumbe said.

Cyvex Nutrition has proven the superior quality of its ingredients with GMP certification and Nutriprint testing methodology, unique in the industry.
