Tessa - This Good Girl's in a Good Home

Tessa, a sweet-as-pie shepherd mix, first came to HALO in September of 2011.  She was about a year and a half old and she was in danger of being euthanized at the county shelter for sneezing.

After just a little love (and some antibiotics), she was ready for her new home and was adopted.  The staff and volunteers were sad to see her go, but happy at the same time, just like when any HALO animal goes to its forever home. Unfortunately, it didn't work out in her adopted home and the family returned her because she was chewing on things she shouldn't.

We were all sad that it hadn't worked out and knew all Tessa needed was some training.  We also knew the right family for this wonderful girl was out there somewhere.  And they were!  They saw Tessa at PetSmart and fell in love.  They brought their other dog in to the shelter the next day to make sure the two pooches got along, and when they did, they knew it was meant to be and took Tessa home!

We received this email from Tessa's adopter...

"So far Tessa is doing really well. She and Roxy (our other dog) are getting along great and like to chase each other around the yard and roll around in the grass. She went for a run today and did really well; she is learning really fast. She is eating, drinking, and sleeping fine too. Thank you!"

Update on Milo - Adopted and Happy!

We have a cat update, too!  Milo is a very loving boy who came to HALO as a stray.  HALO doesn't normally take in strays (we usually have our hands full with animals saved directly from the danger of euthanasia) but we were able to make an exception for him because we happened to have an extra kennel on the day he came in.

His adopter sent us the best email ever letting us know how happy he now is:

"Milo is doing WONDERFUL!! He is an awesome cat. He is very loving, likes to sit on or across our laps, loves to be petted and gives Cindy and me equal time with him when we are both home. He love sitting on his perch looking out the window and he is eating well and drinking and using his litter box just fine. He has acclimated quite well into the ebb and flow of daily life in our household. Cindy is at home with him all day and I am home in the evenings and on the weekends. Milo sleeps with us on our bed at night.

He is a lover, that's for sure, because he is always coming to us for affection and we lavish it on him. Here is a photo I hope you will enjoy (above). Thank you for catching up with us and checking in with Milo."

Blessings,
Tim

Here's the deal.

About 100,000 animals enter the shelters in Maricopa County each year.  Approximately half of them leave alive.

The other half are euthanized.  These are the animals that HALO focuses on saving.  We take animals in danger of euthanasia at the Arizona Humane Society and at Maricopa County Animal Care and Control and give them love, care, and medical treatment, and then find them loving forever homes.

Our resources are limited to pay for their necessary vaccinations, antibiotics, spay/neuter surgeries, etc., so we can only save as many dogs and cats as we can afford.  With support from our fellow animal lovers, we can afford to save more lives.

We are at the big shelters EVERY DAY, rescuing as many animals in danger of euthanasia as we can.

Will you help us save one more animal tomorrow than we did today?

With automatic monthly donations to HALO Animal Rescue, you will provide steady support for the animals who we’ve saved from the danger of euthanasia, in a way that is the convenient for you.

Join at the $25 per month level and receive a free t-shirt so you can show your HALO pride wherever you go!

Please earn your wings and sign up for automatic monthly donation to the animals today.
